Whenever James Mason came to England he visited the Brooks. Planning a culinary trip through the Yorkshire Dales, Lunch at Kildwick, dinner at the Box Tree, or even better steak and kidney pudding atThe Devonshire Arms. In 1972 Peter appeared in ‘Home James’ a television film about Mason’s Huddersfield memories. He could not resist painting On Location With James Mason.
The long and close friendship had started in 1969, when James’ father died he asked Peter to paint ‘Croft House’ the family home in Huddersfield, part farm house part Georgian mansion, the large painting was hung at the elegant villa on the shores of lake Geneva.
